Guidelines for using the Ki Society Headquarters Facilities

  • Map of Ki No Sato
    1. For members coming by car, parking facilities are located in front of the Ki Museum. Please do not park in Tenshinkan Dojo driveway.

    2. When entering the building:
      • Do not wear shoes on the raised wooden platform (SUNOKO) in front of the shelves for footwear.
      • Please make sure to only wear the appropriate footwear for each area. Blue slippers are for men, red ones are for women.
      • Please leave your Aikido uniform in the dressing room. It is only to be worn inside the Tenshinkan Dojo and must not be worn in the dormitories.
      • Please note that the bottom of your luggage is considered no different from the bottom of your shoes. Therefore, do not bring suitcases or knapsacks into the dojo and do not place them on the beds.

    3. Announcements will be given in the dining hall.

    4. The blanket, sheets, and pillow cases for each room are stored in the linen room. The person in charge of each room must see that each person gets his or her bedding at the beginning of the training camp, and returns it neatly folded at the end of the stay.

    5. In the dorms:
      • Keep your luggage in the closets and not on the bed or floor.
      • Please take care that the beds are made properly and that the bedding is kept as clean as possible.
      • No smoking, drinking, or eating is allowed in the rooms. The proper place for eating and drinking is in the dining hall.

    6. Please be sure that you know the time, place, appropriate clothing, and what materials you are to bring to each training session. Be sure to bring a notebook and writing utensil to each training session. When training at the Tenshin Gosho (Noh Theater) please wear socks (no bare feet).

    7. At the end of the trainins sessions, the training area must be swept. At the end of the training camp, the entire facility must be cleaned. Be sure that you know who has been appointed in charge of cleaning the rooms and training areas, and offer to help until the job is done

    8. Meals:
      • Be sure to gather at the appointed time. Do not be late for meals. You may wear your training wear (sweats) in the dining room, but not your Aikido uniform.
      • Be sure that you know who is in charge of the rooms, and remember that they are also responsible for seeing that you show appropriate manners during the meal.
      • Please assist with scraping and stacking the plates and trays after the meal to make it easier for the kitchen staff to wash the dishes.

    9. You may not wear your Aikido uniform into the bathroom. Please respect the proper manners and way of using the bath. If you do not know, by all means ask

    10. Please respect the "lights out" time at night

    11. Please respect the time you are asked to wake up. If you are late for morning practice, your delay holds everyone back.

    12. At the end of the camp, we want to leave it as clean and orderly as when we found it. This is not only a matter of common courtesy, it also reflects your level of Ki Development
